Are we ready to talk yet?
Craftsmanship heavy makers are feeling more and more pushed out of the community. They can not make things fast for quick content and the algorithms are driven by those who are not in the community.

Many craftsmanship folks keep their heads down and just keep working, because heaven help them if they say anything against easy or quick costumes.
Even though many of us support quick/easy because we started there too. Just years ago.

And while we may be known for crafting, there are just something we don’t want to deal with. Star Trek uniform? Amazon.
Once upon a time there was a hard line between cosplayers and costumers. Cosplayers were in it for fun, low stakes, photos, and maybe some craftsmanship. Costumers were in it for the love of the craft, everything was about the making process. There where goods and bads.
But what happened? Well, costumers got annoyed and started their own events and competitions, they (in my opinion) got pissy and alienated everyone else. This caused a huge bias against costumers.
Those costumers are still around, and so are their events. My mom is still active and very clear she is a sewer and costumer.
So who are these new craftsmanship folks then?
Well, they are cosplayers. They started off just like everyone else, buying things and puzzling them together, trying to read patterns with no help, hoarding bandaids and burn cream, and just doing everything for the joy.

They just grew into a different branch of cosplay, craftsmanship. Through muddling around (I’m looking at every bad sleeve) they found their joy in the crafting. In that mystery of how 7-8 hrs could go by in a blink while working on one small unseen detail.
I’m scared that if the cosplay world does not come to understand that we all feel bias and biased opinions against us then this split will happen again.
