If you were a victim of fraud perpetrated on Washington's unemployment system, you should be aware of this issue ⬇️
WA's Employment Security Department still reported the stolen money as income to the IRS . . . meaning some residents who never received unemployment benefits are being told they owe taxes on the money scam artists stole.
This is unacceptable & must be fixed. It's why I'm pressing the Acting Commissioner of ESD to take immediate action to correct information ESD has been reporting to the IRS that could further inconvenience these fraud victims.
