Ok.
I’m bored, 1 like, 1 musical opinion.
I’ll be back in seconds 👍
1. Michael Jackson is the only human being to touch the garments of god.
(This is not based on musical quality but on the massiveness of a human being)
2. The quality of music has degraded over time and will continue degrading until a new genre of music is born.
3. The greatest genre of music in the history of music is Rock.
4. 2000s pop music is lazy, tiring and lack a human factor. It’s programmed to be perfect and that’s how it’s ends up, programmed.
5. Freddie Mercury is the greatest male vocalist
6. RnB is just vibes, who can hit the highest notes, corny love lyrics and crying in the rain. It’s not special.
7. Rema is the future of afrobeats
8. Stan culture will forever be a cancer to musical communities.
9. The sub genre of trap that try to imitate alt rock/ metal culture will always be ass to me
10. Acquired tastes doesn’t necessarily translate to good music taste. because you found a “secluded” sound to be the holy grail doesn’t mean it isn’t ass.
Example: I would never suggest black metal as good music to people trying to get into rock, unless they want it.
11. Jazz is the back bone of modern music, blues is the spinal cord.
12. Without black people music would’ve been boring.
I love classical music, listening to Bach simulates listening to god, but swing. Swing is something. Swing is life, life is swing.
13. The greatest lyricist the world have ever seen is between Atahualpa Yupanqui, Leonard Cohen and Maynard James Keenan.
(If you are seeing this and you listen Raices and you understand Spanish, I want you in my life. I need to know more)
15. Word Play and Rhymes doesn’t necessarily = perfect lyricism. It’s a beautiful concept, it’s very difficult and it should be applauded. BUT calling writers that just spin word plays and have good rhymes the best lyricist is a crime. 👍
16. The greatest song I’ve heard in my life is Stairway to heaven.
17. Burna Boy deserves every piece of hype he is getting rn.
18. The best producer we’ve seen in Nigeria is easily Sarz.
19. The art of Music Videos is dead, and hip hop single handedly killed it.
20. Charts and Streams do not translate to high quality of music.
It holds for “good” music, but high end? No. You’d need more than numbers to back that up.
21. Live performances is an art for that’s dying. Mainstream artists just go to shows and sing along to their hit tracks with smoke and pyrotechnics 👍
22. There is no 10/10 album, stop deceiving yourself
23. Replay value of an album has a heavy dependence on your taste on music
24. Thugger is the a trap god.
25. Olamide music never sounded great to me except duro soke. But I do admit he is a legend and he’s music is actually very good.
26. Lil Kesh has the best debut year in Nigerian Music industry
27. I’ve only seen two artiste that have 10s littered all over their discography.
1. Michael Jackson
2. Nina Simone.
Their ability to deliver 10s is amazing
28. Kanye west is a musical genius
29. I do not necessarily like Beyoncé music and most of her bops are mid to me, but at the same time, I acknowledge her greatness and my favourite song is the formation one 👍
30. I stated pop is trash earlier, this also applies to Kpop. Free yourselves from bondage. K pop isn’t an exciting genre and the argument for “you hate because you don’t understand the language” is tiring and terrible. Watch Afro beat rise, we are coming and we are clear 👍
31. When I was younger, I thought reminisce- Ka ko bi chicken was about erection.
32. Sex factor sells music like crazy. If you like admit it, if you like don’t. It’s saving the lives of plenty mid artistes. While I do embrace I as a collective we should try to do better when picking artistes to support.
33. Oxlade is the Mason Mount of the Nigerian music industry. He is unfairly treated by a large majority even when he clearly gives his all and is growing as an artiste.
34. Eric Clapton- Tears in heaven is one of the saddest songs ever written.
A song about the death of his toddler after going on a lengthy hiatus was doomed to make you cry. 👍
35. We need to treat women better in the industry and frankly women have to do better musically. Hit legend status by dropping classics, The last classics I can remember from a woman is “shine bright like a diamond”
36. Mountain Black and Mad Melon (danfo drivers) deserves better.
37. Psquare split wasn’t the cause of their downward spiral, every good thing naturally comes to an end.
38. 2000s Pop is ass
39. Leonard Cohen’s debut album is the best lyrical work I’ve ever seen.
A huge majority would have no understanding of what he is writing at first listen
40. Beyoncé isn’t in top 3 performers .
Performance sometimes is beyond choreography and gold swimming trunk
I’ll stop now, before I become a bore
Let’s go to 50
41. Rammstein has the best music videos
(Rock is a better visual genre than every other genre)
42. LedZepplin is the definition of a god.
They were perfect all round but somehow still struggled with 10s, their songs were better as projects
43. Tool makes the most technical music I’ve ever seen
44. Marlians were the fastest growing fan base in Nigeria’s history, but it grew so fast it couldn’t be sustained.
45. Nas is the greatest rapper I’ve heard in my short existence
46. Underground music isn’t the holy grail it’s pained to be, its heavily dependent on acquired tastes. Listening to underground artistes doesn’t make you special
47. The 80s was the most exciting musical era. (Exciting =\\= best)
48. Live performances is about LIVE MUSIC and theatre combined.
49. The streaming/ tik tok challenge era is supporting way too many bums. Try and think of these new artistes (especially women) you’d nothing challenged are the reason people get recycling their songs
50. Boy bands will always make mid music, this is coming from a west life fan 👍
