I'm still reviewing the #SAFETECH bill dropped today by @MarkWarner @maziehirono and @amyklobuchar but first off, major HAT TIP to @daniellecitron and @ma_franks. Their elegant proposal to change "information" in C1 to "speech" gets adopted.

The bill also removes the liability shield for paid advertisements, addressing the multi-billion dollar online advertising market that is riddled with scam artists and fraudsters. 2/3
It also seeks to clarify / reverse poor court interpretations including the landmark Oakmont v. Prodigy, and later Herrick v. Grindr ( @cagoldberglaw's landmark effort) a prime example of a platform abusing 230 to avoid basic duty of care. More to come... 3/3
