thinking about it, part of the reason i've always been so emotionally invested in jiang cheng from the get-go so much is that he openly expresses his anger and actually *tells* wei wuxian that he's hurt him.

is jiang cheng the most emotionally honest person in mdzs???
i'm realizing that a lot of what i find frustrating in people's takes about jiang cheng, or in post-canon jc+wwx reconciliation, is how often it winds up invalidating and disregarding jiang cheng's anger.
it feels like there's just this huge unspoken generalized need out there for wei wuxian to get his happy ending — and specifically, that his happy ending isn't complete until jiang cheng has a change of heart about him and gives up his anger.
like, we've spent 50 episodes/an entire novel seeing all the context to wei wuxian's behavior that jiang cheng didn't have and being frustrated by that! and now that the truth has come to light and wwx's reputation is restored, it feels *unfair* that jc doesn't just come around.
like, how dare jiang cheng still be angry with wei wuxian, now that he knows what wei wuxian went through, what wwx did for him? we've spent all this time yelling at jiang cheng going, "if you only KNEW the truth," and now he does and he.... is still angry? how is that fair???
how can he still be so angry?? why can't he just let it go? like, can't he see that he was wrong to be angry with wei wuxian in the first place?

why must jiang cheng insist on continuing to have emotions that seem so unreasonable to us and so disruptive to our happy ending?
we decide that jiang cheng's anger sixteen years ago was invalid because we know the whole context, even though he didn't.

and then, sixteen years later, when he learns what was really going on, we want him to realize he was wrong and that he wasn't justified for being upset.
