Primary headteachers are amazing. They’re often the designated safeguarding lead, data protection officer, a subject lead, experts in curriculum, assessment, and early social skills. They’re on the gate, know every child and family and know how to fix the boiler as well. Etc....
Secondary headteachers, you’re amazing too, but in a different way. I look at this as a former secondary head and I’m in awe of what a really good primary head covers in a typical week. People in ‘industry’ have little idea of the range of skills involved. Hats off to the heads
There are lots of fine people in industry of course but they generally have little idea about the leadership involved in the care, education, formation, supervision, support, mentoring, coaching, in loco parenting of hundreds of young humans in the same space every day.
