Quite a number of priests have come to the priest's defence and have expressed concern at the church's condemnation of him (below), issued after he had apologised and deleted his post.
These priests have said he was trying to express concern about the "political manipulation" of Cpt Tom's memory and said his tweet has been "misconstrued and used to attack him" with racist abuse

The Diocese of London has described the racist abuse aimed at Mr Robinson-Brown as "completely unacceptable" and said it has been providing him with support since the story blew up.
