There's parts of this thread I disagree with but on the whole it is one of Peter's more balanced ones. The GB-NI border is nothing like the Dover-Calais border. Issues like frozen processed meat, which actually isn't even in Ireland's interests, pet travel and easing some of the paperwork between GB and NI is easy to resolve and doesn't threaten the EU's single market. My fear is that the EU doesn't get the gravity of the situation.
The danger is that the EU stick to a technical, legal approach to the problem with temporary fixes and this inflames tensions which will eventually lead to violence. The EU need to understand what they let themselves in for when they pushed for the NI protocol.
