Dr. Walensky said that schools can open without the vaccine safely because THEY CAN.
HOWEVER, what she also said is important but apparently, people are allowing their limbic to override their rational brains and not listening.

She said if:
-local transmission is low
-PEOPLE WEAR MASKS
-people remain 6ft apart
-there is appropriate ventilation
-there are fewer kids in the classrooms
IT CAN BE SAFE

GUESS WHAT- this is true. My kids have been in school since fall with the above conditions. In the HS- there has been ZERO transmission FROM SCHOOL. The transmission has happened when people haven't followed protocol in the community.
Clearly, the teacher's unions are not happy- and I GET THAT. WHY? Because all schools can't do what is needed and UNTIL they can, kids and ALL personnel in a school shouldn't be put in harm's way. But the vaccine won't help kids stay safe- so it can't be our only tool.
So if you're acting like the vaccine is the magic bullet..it only is for teachers- unless schools ALSO implement the regimen above- the virus WILL spread.
