2 years ago today I went public with my story and what a crazy 2 years it has been. From BBC documentaries to YouTube HQ, American podcasts and Northern Irish safeguarding visits, Government policy advising and police training. It’s been a blast.
I’m so grateful for the opportunities but I have taken a step back . My story is part of me, it does not define me. I am starting a new journey, using my experience to help others tell their story, influencing legislation and being part of the advisory board at @FixersUK
That’s enough reminiscing. But I am going to plug the most important issue when it comes to sexting: VICTIMS under the age of 18 can still be cautioned, charged, prosecuted and put on the sex offenders register if they have been subject to intimate image abuse.
The law is outdated and unfit for purpose. I know because I have been that child in the police station. Outcome 21 is not the solution and more needs to be done to safeguard children.
