Just some random thoughts:-
1) Entertainment Industry is growing day by day( by "entertainment" I mean everything from visual content to social media)

2) As the world economy grows people tend to have more "free" time in their hands
3) If you think about it, in an average Indian family the grandparents or the great-grand parents didn't have the privilege to sit around and binge watch/listen to All India Radio(Akashwani)/Doordarshan all day long.

4) Now that the same family earns more even after..
factoring in inflation and other economic factors, they can spend a considerable amount of time (if they want to) watching shows, movies etc.

5)Going forward in the future, as automation, AI take over repetitive/mundane tasks we would find ourselves...
...spending more time entertaining our brains

6) This could also be the reason why we tend to place these actors on a pedestal and prolly the reason you would faint if you see your celebrity crush irl. Back then, when film making didn't exist, Indian theatre actors weren't..
...people you would ever be excited to meet(unless you are really interested creative aspect of it)

7) To sum it all up, entertainment industry is going to be a huge independent business and would be a *major* contributing factor to the entire economy
