wless never ceases to amaze me. He seems to desire so much artistic integrity from this game and I just don't think he's ever gonna get it.
Geometry dash is just a game that has a building/sandbox mode. People are gonna build what they want. And yeah, https://twitter.com/wlesshfc/status/1357481777372274690
this leads to stereotypes and consistencies being formed, but that happens with all "artforms."
Once in a while we do get something pretty unique! I think SAVE AS had a beautiful message with a lot of effort put into it, and I know wless loves it too. We just can't expect that...
all the time. Wittling down every aspect of a level, even to the use of a color, and demanding more be done with it, is a little too much for me. It's a color, people like it and can easily build themes around it, so they're gonna use it. Not everything has to be that deep.
Side note but I find it ironic how wless sets these impossible standards for the community and himself, and then makes vent levels like "In the Radiator" as a way to challenge those very same standards. I think the level has a cool message, but to me wless is contradicting
himself when he makes levels like that and proceeds to judge other levels to similar standards that made him make that level in the first place. I have nothing against wless, I think he's a fine creator and he's entitled to his opinions, but it's just something I noticed.
I guess I'm a hypocrite to for calling him out for psycoanalyzing and then proceding to psycoanalyze. I'm probably missing something, but whatever.

All in all, create what you want, as long as you're not copying shit, and that shade of purple is cool as fuck.
