Really vital conversation about the need for the film/TV industry to be inclusive to all carers, testimonies stating how the burden of care & homeschooling in #Covid falling to women, call for systemic change
@wandabelfast @WFTIreland

Stories about women being afraid to say they are pregnant, scared to bring up issues around kids in case it will work against them... the unspoken message is “if ye wanna have a family stay away from film”
Call to rethink everything systemically - prioritising care as a viable concern among film workers, not sthg that should be kept secret.
How can we incentivise change? Economics a huge part of this. Needs to happen at broadcaster, & commissioning stages, led by producers and companies, as well as individuals. Collective thinking and solution oriented change to benefit everyone.
For anyone interested in this conversation, there are lots of inspiring case studies and testimonies on @RaisingFilms and will soon be added to @RaisingFilmsIe - collectively we can make our industry not just viable but akdo better for all.
I want a crèche attached to my set on my first feature & would love for it to support HODs who are mothers - also home schooling options. When ye really think about this, the cost vis-a-vis other costs is not huge, but the change it would herald is huge - rap for single mothers
