so in the comics as of the Empyre event, Billys last name is Kaplan-Altman. before he married his husband, his last name was Kaplan. the reason why "Kaplan" is important is because once his soul was reborn again, he was born to Kaplans who are Jewish!

Its really important to remember that billy is Jewish not only because its important to respect Jewish identity, but because Allen Heinburg, who created Billy Kaplan-Altman, is also gay and Jewish. Heinburg wanted to create a character that reflected him, and so he did!

its really important to remember Jewish characters because Jewish people have been subjected to antisemitism and erasure for... pretty much forever. and not to mention modern american comic books have their foundations in Jewish creators!
