/Initially, I was annoyed by what I witnessed take place on the House floor yesterday, but after some rumination, I am angry and mortified. More so, than by the events that occurred in the same place on January 6th. "How?" you may ask.
/Our leaders took to @CSPAN to bear witness to their selfishness, greed and lack of courage, for all the world to see. Not a single one of them faced adversity, danger or any kind of genuine physical threat worthy of the theatrical display they imposed upon us.
/Yet, people around the world watched the very leaders who have inflicted insurmountable pain and suffering on their communities pretend to be victims. And while it's no surprise to see the absolute lack of humanity for non-U.S. citizens emanate from the halls of Congress,
/their rapaciousness has become so extreme that the results cannot be described as "America First." It is "Elite Class First." We are no longer citizens in our own country. Our leaders have completely turned their backs on the people they swore an oath to serve.
/Over the past year our leaders revealed themselves to be inhumane monsters. They not only ignored the suffering of their constituents, but relentlessly inflicted MORE suffering upon us in the pursuit of endless power, fame and wealth, without remorse.
/Understand that I do not seek sympathy from anyone outside of this country for our plight. As a people, we allowed this to happen and we allowed our leaders to bomb, sanction and pillage your communities and we did nothing. We didn't even question them. We are equally culpable.
/I'm simply coming to terms with and for the first time openly accepting that this is who we are. THIS IS WHO WE ARE. Let that sink in. No, we are not better than this. As a nation, we are not defined by the tragedies that challenge us, but by how we choose to respond.
/Our leaders did not respond to the call. They did not demonstrate strength or courage, but cowardice, weakness and vanity. So save your tears, Congress. You haven't earned the right to feel anything but complete and total shame.
