Ok #montsayetwitter, it's time for our new weekly #readinghour. This time, instead of sending in pictures of us reading, we'll be focusing on the reading habits of our KS3 @MontsayeEng students during DEAR time - a 20 minute session in one of their English lessons:
The most read author this week was @jk_rowling with around 15% of KS3 reading one of the Harry Potter series. Close second was @wimpykid Jeff Kinney, with around about 10% of all KS3 students reading one of his Diary of Wimpy Kid books! #readingstats #montsayereads
There were over 100 different books being read by our KS3 students, ranging in genre from fantasy and teen fiction to books filled with advice on how to become a Youtuber and one filled with jokes! #readingstats #variety
Montsaye students also cumulatively read over 3000 pages this week! For context, that is roughly same amount of pages as 2 1/2 copies of Tolstoy's War and Peace, or around 10 copies of The Hobbit! #bignumbers #montsayereads
Finally, some reviews: Montsaye students rated their books an average of 4.1/5, with many commenting on how much they had 'learned' or 'laughed' because of their book choice. #readingislife
That's all for this week - check back next Friday for more details about how reading was influential during home learning for Montsaye's KS3 students. #montsayereads
