Yasir Shah made his test debut at the age of 28 against Australia on 22th October 2014 (1st Test of AUS tour of UAE). In that match he took 7 wkts with his first wkt being Steve Smith in an winning effort.
He finished the series with 12 wkts being the second highest wkt taker of the series.

Yasir Shah is the fastest Pakistani bowler to 50 test wkts (9 matches). Shah is one of those bowlers who have picked 3 consecutive 5-fers in test matches. In July 2016 Yasir Shah became the first leg spinner to take a 5-fer in a Test innings at Lord's since Mushtaq Ahmad in 1996
In total he picked a -wicket haul in that match.
He is also the first Pakistani bowler to be ranked no 1 in ICC test ranking since Mushtaq Ahmad in 1996. He achieved this feat on 18 July 2016.

Yasir Shah is the second joint fastest overall and fastest Pakistan bowler to 100 test wkts achieving the milestone in his 17th test.
He is also the quickest spinner to pick 150 test wkts. During the NZ tour of UAE of 2018 he broke and set many records. In second test match he took 8/41 in the first innings the best bowling performance by any bowler against New Zealand.
He made history by taking 10 wkts on the same day becoming the first Pakistani bowler to do this & the second bowler overall.
He took 14/184 in that test match which is the best bowling performance by a Pakistani Spinner & the second best bowling performance by any Pakistani bowler in tests & the most wkts by a bowler against New Zealand in a test match.
In the same tour he broke a 82 year old record he became the quickest bowler to 200 test wkts in just his 33rd match.
Yasir Shah is also a decent batsman. He has hit a test century against Australia in Australia during the Pakistan's tour of Australia 2019.
In November 2020 he was nominated for the ICC test's men player of the year the only Pakistani to be nominated that year.
