How Nas might have inspired Eminem to create the song "Stan" and a brief look at their mutual respect.

************************************************************
Nas could be considered as the greatest story teller of all time given the vivid images and scenarios he has been producing in the listener’s mind through his captivating and sharp rhymes. his influence on Eminem always has been evident, especially in Em's debut, Infinite.
23 year old Nas took his storytelling ability to the next level in his second album, “It Was Written”. In the song,”I Gave you power”, Nas manages to tell a moving and a poignant story in eyes of an illegal weapon and he manages to bring that object into life through his pen.
Eminem approaches the same route in a different manner in his iconic song, “Stan” and song is encapsulating the unhealthy fan obsessions that Em had to encounter with the success of SSLP. Em pays homage to Nas at the end of the song and probably for inspiring Em creatively.
Nas’s IGYP song would end with the weapon losing it’s owner and it would feel “Happy” about not having to cause havoc on people again but the weapon would get picked up by another person at the end and the song would end abruptly with Nas saying “Damn” with a echoing gun shot.
In Stan, Eminem would finally get the letters Stan has been sending him and when Em realizes the accident he came across in TV was the fan he has been receiving letters from and he would go “Damn” and the song would end abruptly with a sound of thunder.
And what’s beautiful about the whole thing is how it comes in full circle in 2013, in MMLP2 which was Eminem’s glorious attempt at revisiting his classic album,MMLP which is consist of the song,"Stan"

and he would reference "I Gave You Power"
While we at it, let me point out these two times where Nas showed love to Em.
When Em’s old tape which he acted as an ignorant teenager about one of his exes came out with him using a racial slur, some were quick to throw him under the bus with Sauce magazine trying to blow it out of proportion to hurt Em’s image as a result of their beef with him.
even after Em taking accountability for his behavior and apologizing publicly, some still wasn't ready to let it go.

Nas also had something to say about the incident and not just he had Em's back but he also says he considers Em to be a friend of his.
This song was supposed to be on the 9th album of Nas, “Untitled” but due to sample clearances it couldn’t reach the official album
Eminem had the opportunity to produce Nas's song,"The Cross" and Nas would start his verse telling producers Eminem getting into production going to be a problem for them and Nas also refers Eminem as the "New King" during the process.
Eminem has always known to showing enormous love and respect towards his favorite rappers and Nas is one of them that he had been showing love consistently throughout his career.

the fact we haven't got a song from these two is disappointing but with both of them being active and success in their own terms to this day is something we all can smile about :)
