Mini sports comms/media thread. Wanted to flag a real & positive shift from media over past yr re the focus on the massive role grassroots sport & physical activity plays in all our lives, highlighting its ability to make a diff. & encourage them to keep it up in 'normal' times!
1 - The BBC via @danroan @LauraScott__ in partic but lots of others including @KarthiSport have kept a huge focus on community sport, shining a lot on the trojan work done locally & advocating for its benefits esp for under-served audiences - eg below https://twitter.com/LauraScott__/status/1357447775819075585?s=20
2 - The Telegraph have been out on their own for cov of women's sport for ages but their work on keeping the challenges facing children has been so strong & their campaigning here has encouraged fresh thinking @JWTelegraph & others to the fore, see here https://www.telegraph.co.uk/keep-kids-active/
4 - Alongside @TNLUK we've been working closely with the @DailyMailUK & @MetroUK on monthly supplements on grassroots sport. Got off to a flying start in Jan thanks to @dpcoverdale & @mattnashmetro Next month big focus on disabled people too. Good eg here https://twitter.com/dpcoverdale/status/1353992364482768896?s=20
There's more of course but good egs here. So why does this matter? Bc in the past been v v difficult to get any traction on community sport & role it plays in our lives & society. It matters - so credit where credit is due. Hope it keeps up! /ends
