I am a counsellor, and hearing some colleagues speak, I feel the need to say: No, counselling is not the best option for everybody. If you don't want to seek help from a counsellor, or feel it wouldn't be helpful to you, you might be right about that. 1/n
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Don't let them gaslight you by saying you are defensive or resistant to change because that might just be their own judgement (yes, professionals in mental health also judge, 2/n
and they judge a LOT because the system has told *us* we are now qualified to do so). Depending on life experiences, needs and also where you are in your life at the moment, other things may help as much: exercise, spirituality, community support, activities etc. 3/n
Do what works for you, it doesn't have to be about sitting in a room with someone and talking.
Only one thing is important: if you feel you need support, don't be afraid to seek it, look for the right place and the right people. 4/4
