1/ I have chosen a life of advocating for Palestine. It is the work I do & enjoy. Every now & then I reflect on what that means and some of the situations I encounter.

Fighting your own dehumanization really highlights the global structural inequalities we face. It takes a toll.
2/ The crux of every conversation is: I am a human too and deserve to be free.

That is the fundamental principle.

Often those conversations are amongst people from the same generation who are free, with rights just based on where they are born or where they live.
3/ It is comically tragic that I, a human being, must make this appeal to other human beings to create a sense of empathy and solidarity with a people fighting for inherent rights that should be afforded to everyone.

I don't want to be in this position. But we are.
4/ We live in a world where the political, financial & diplomatic interventions of capitals and consumers in places far far away shape the trajectory of my life & the lives of millions of Palestinians.

We didn't choose this, nonetheless it has become an imposed responsibility.
5/ Why? Because this world is one where a vicious, racist and orientalist narrative became dominant about who we are & what we want as a people.

That narrative shaped policies and behaviors that fundamentally contribute to our oppression to this day.
6/ Why should we live in a world where one human being seeks another halfway across the world just to prove that they are human too.

Imagine a German coming to a Palestinian asking that their government or fellow citizens no longer act in ways that deny Germans their freedom?
7/It is an utterly ridiculous notion when broken down to its constituent parts.

We not only face an asymmetry of power between us and our oppressor, but also the rest of the world which dictates our environment and props up the system that shackles us from moving forward.
8/ This structural inequality is the reason why me must advocate abroad but also is the arena we advocate within.

It is designed and primed to shut us out.

It is not going to be the only road towards our liberation but it remains critical.
9/ The other must be a movement of like minded people, whether Palestinian, Jewish or other to stand together in Palestine and dismantle this system at home and abroad.

I am sick of having to prove that I'm human and deserve to freedom too.
