Oh goodness, it seems like I've made a lot of new friends recently. I should probably introduce myself again.

Hello! I'm Heather.

A little about me... oh goodness...

Well, I think the most important thing is that cats seem to like me and seem to like being petted by me.
I have about a bajillion hobbies and interests! Like this tweet and/or give me a topic (or like the first tweet) and I'll talk about something!
1. I've been a Linux user since around 2011! I've used a bunch of distros in that time: Ubuntu, Fedora, Manjaro, Debian...

I'm currently using openSUSE Tumbleweed and love it, though I'm considering switching to Fedora Silverblue for a glimpse at the future.
2. I love cycling. I used to live near a long cycling trail that I could hop on my bicycle and dissociate.

My baby was a Cannondale. I couldn't bring it with me when I moved, so it got a lovely new home after spending some thousands of miles with me :)
3. I love cooking! My favorite dish to cook, and eat, is ratatouille. Ratatouille is a simple yet beautiful love letter to summer vegetables, and I adore it!
4. I love gardening! One of my long term dreams has been to maintain a commune for queer folks looking for a break from cisciety, so I've been trying to make sure my gardening skills are up to the task.
...
That, and tie in number three there.
...
I like ratatouille, okay?
5. I enjoy programming! I'm horrible at it, and my programming has always been to solve engineering problems, but I do enjoy having fun with microcontrollers and Python.

For example, https://twitter.com/HeatherDotAwoo/status/1158788392819101696 Made in Python :)
6. I'm a brewer! I've been doing it for about ten years now (albeit haven't made anything in the past few months). I did it professionally for a while: it was tons of fun, albeit still a job :)
7. While I haven't really watched in a couple years, I have watched a *ton* of anime.
My profile picture, for a long time, was a drawing of Nia from Gurren Lagann that I commissioned a friend to draw!
8. I am an Engineer-in-Training in the state of California! I got a degree in Chemical Engineering and passed my certification exam :D

I haven't really done any engineering since then though...

...

Perhaps soon with regards to a certain mutual aid project?
9. While I am an EIT for Chemical Engineering, my favorite classes were my Biology classes. Molecular Biology was my favorite undergraduate class!

I try to keep up in a few Biology fields, though it's a touch difficult without university-granted tools (eg JSTOR).
10. I'm very picky about fonts!
My favorite fonts include JetBrains Mono, Alegreya, Droid Sans, and Hack.
I write almost all my documents in Alegreya, read in Droid Sans or JetBrains Mono, program in JetBrains Mono or Hack... I'm particular, okay?
11. I don't know if it counts as an *interest*, but I'm (somewhat recently out as) plural!
I like talking with other systems and hearing about their experiences with plurality :D

(By the way, check out my headmate's twitter: @JakeDotAwoo He's cool :3)
12. I'm a Star Trek nerd!

I'm thinking about doing another DS9 run soon. Despite the slow start (and despite some *excellent* Next Gen episodes), it shapes up to be my favorite series.
13. I like rabbits! 🐰

My favorite rabbits are Flemish Giants because OMG THEY ARE SO BIG AND FLOOFY <3

An early in transition Heather saw a bunbun and burst into some estrogen-fueled tears... and it was the first time they cried in quite a long time.
14. I like board games!

I was part of the board games club in university. We had a ton of them, and I wish I could remember 80% of them ;-;

I remember being *terrible* at Ricochet Robots...

Betrayal at House on the Hill is one of my favorites <3
15. I like stim toys!

My go-to is usually a fidget cube: I like holding them like a console controller and mashing the clicky buttons :D

My favorite stim toy is one I made actually. I gave it to a very near and dear friend :)
I need to make more of them some time <3
16. I was a science fair judge!

I liked complimenting the students on their efforts, and encouraged them to continue on with science past just the silly fair :)
17. Before COVID-19, I helped kids learn how to read.
It was lovely, and I miss doing it. I hope I can do that again some time.
Or maybe help with STEM topics 💜
18. I rather enjoy driving, but I despise automagic transmissions. There's a certain harmony in telling the car exactly what to do and it doing it; automagic transmissions give cars too much room to do what they want (eg change gear / gear ratio versus increase revs)
19. I like stationary!

Back when I had to write down a lot of things I don't understand down *very quickly*, I found the joy that is the Pilot G2 pen. Having used only shitty Bic pens or generic pens from a box up to that point, writing felt effortless; I could enjoy it!
20. I used to play football ⚽! I played striker because I could get some decent power behind my shots, but I switched to winger because I was a lot better at placing the ball where it needed to go.

Also 2nd string keeper. Had the eye+intuition but not the build for it ^^
21. I like to spontaneously break into little dances. It's one of my stims.

I like it. It's fun. 💜

The worst part is that others have to see it.
