Children's books to read about farmers. #FarmersProtest
Rinchin's I will Save My Land, illustrated by Sagar Kolwankar - Mati's land is threatened by a coal mining company, but she's determined to not let it become a black pit. https://www.tulikabooks.com/general-picture-books/i-will-save-my-land-english.html

Everything starts with a seed. Jayesh Sivan and my story about seed guardians who started their own seed bank. A story of triumph and empowerment. https://storyweaver.org.in/stories/41319-the-seed-savers
Of course @csoundar's Farmer Falgu series, illustrated by Kanika Nair, puts the farmer at the centre of the story. http://www.chitrasoundar.com/books/picture-books/farmer-falgu-series/
Have to say, read Mudpuddle Farm by Michael Morpurgo, because it is too fun. https://www.michaelmorpurgo.com/products/mudpuddle-farm-six-animal-adventures-mudpuddle-farm-michael-morpurgo-shoo-rayner-9780007296668/
Of course, Siddhartha Sarma's Year of the Weeds, one of my absolutely favourite books. Hard hitting and compelling. https://www.thehindu.com/books/books-authors/powered-by-the-people/article25456495.ece
I wrote this eons ago, but one of my favourite books on farms used to be the Cherry Tree farm series by Enid Blyton. (It does paint an over-idyllic view of the farm.) https://www.dailyo.in/arts/childrens-books-literature-farming-enid-blyton-roald-dahl-pg-wodehouse/story/1/3426.html
. @menakaraman adds two more: @eyefry's Jadav and the Tree-Place. One of the first books I worked on with the fabulous Vinayak Varma. https://storyweaver.org.in/stories/5052-jadav-and-the-tree-place
And she reminds me of Ruhani Kaur and Uddalak Gupta's photo picture book, The Grass Seeker, which tells the story of Room Singh and his sheep, as well as climate change. https://storyweaver.org.in/stories/121978-the-grass-seeker
Ummm, a lot of my books have farmer connects. A section on food and farmers in So You Want to Know About the Environment, a farmer protest in A Cloud Called Bhura, and @MissGoobe and I got to interview Kavitha Kuruganti in 10 Indian Champions who are Fighting to Save the Planet.
As an editor, I find that the stories, of where our food comes from and who grows it, are fading, even as we continue to be obsessed with food. As @kkuruganti told us, 'You have to be exposed to farming... only that will build a sense of appreciation around what effort it takes.'
Here're a slew of books from @PARInetwork and @karaditales. @AparnaKarthi

I will keep adding more books, and please add to this thread, but here's a good one to read, because @GretaThunberg is awesome :).

Another recco from @menakaraman - Priyadarshini Gogoi, Preeti Hatibarua and Viplov Singh's book on growing rice. https://storyweaver.org.in/stories/130381-junuka-and-the-rice-rakshasas
This pop-up book is so cool and tells children the story behind our everyday things, including chocolate.
