Generic feedback: Build a community before building a product.
Reality: An average household has hundreds of products and SKUs at home, I’m part of maybe 1 community (?) if that.

Reality: You can build a community using your product.

Reality: You’re a founder who can’t afford to wait to build community.
Reality: You’re in a market where you need a product where it’s important to have the first/early mover advantage.
Reality: You need to build a really good product and focusing on building community takes away disproportionate time from other important things.
More than community I believe in creating loyal fans and advocates who will promote your products within their communities.

There’s obviously no size fits all solution here but the reality is not everyone has the luxury to just build a community first but it’s become the standard narrative in the DTC world.
