"Delusion about one's own power or importance". Although narcissism & megalomania are seen together; in most cases: over indulgence of one is the cause of the other! Obsession with power & distorted sense of self makes them averse to ideas of humanitarianism.

PARANOIA OF PERSECUTION
Persecutory delusions usually have underlying causes (schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders). Hindu Rashtra supporters justify their stance by claiming large scale, organized "persecution" of majority by minorities! Persecution complex warps reality.

Claiming perceived victimhood is the logical conclusion to paranoia of persecution. This is used as justification for undue transgressions (settling scores under guise of "protecting" oneself). Increased majoritarianism in India is increasingly using this rationale.

Notions of "deservingness" are usually underestimated. Majoritarianism is rooted in those beliefs. It makes for ppl who consider it their "right" to wilfully disregard rights of ppl they consider as "others" (eg: casteism & outrage over minority representation).

SELF AGGRANDIZEMENT
Exaggerated sense of self doesn't stop at braggadocious behaviour. Cult of personality/fanbase of ppl looking up to populists projecting similar delusory sentiments; easily created (eg: Sanghis/Bhakts). Such ppl are susceptible to propaganda/improbable ideas.

NEUROTIC PRIDE
Pride can be a noxious vice. Neurotic pride destroys the psyche further. It's imaginary glorification compensating for very real deficiencies. In the Indian context, revisionist "history" is a source of neurotic pride amongst the radicalized Hindutva hate brigade.

Extremely conservative ideologies create taboos around sex. Rape threats (with sex as the ultimate demeaning insult), homophobia, difficulty in expressing one's own sexual needs: esp in India where "Sanskar" is promoted for establishing a religious hegemony.

Over emphasis of attributes considered "manly" by certain social standards is the foundation of arguments trying to legitimize patriarchy. Toxic masculinity can manifest as misogyny (defining feminine limitations as a means of outlining masculine roles).

Hindutva hate brigade does targeted propaganda against anyone who doesn't conform to specifications deemed "acceptable"; by using xenophobia as a tool to get ppl to tow the majoritarianism line. The, "They're coming to get you!"/"Us vs. Them" style of fearmongering.

Muslims are most oppressed in India cuz they are largest of all minorities. Neo fascist ideologies need an enemy to vilify, to "fight" against: propaganda about every aspect of Muslims; starting with Islamophobia. It doesn't stop there. They always find a new enemy.

TOXIC NATIONALISM
Toxic nationalists are more focused on everything/everyone that they hate than the "love" they claim to have for their country. Toxic nationalism is usually a precursor of fascism. Patriotism & nationalism aren't the same thing.

These serious mental health issues need to be addressed & dealt with accordingly, before any resolution can be expected of the problems India is facing today. When negative personality traits are ignored long enough, they turn into personality disorders (which can cause...
...irreversible changes). Ppl like these cannot make any meaningful contributions to society & indulge in behaviours that negatively affect not only themselves but everyone around them. Repressed negative emotions are expressed as disproportionate emotional responses &...
...misdirected hate. When leadership itself endorses/is made of ppl who normalize such toxic behaviour, it becomes extremely difficult to eradicate these problems. But, if India ever hopes to develop/better itself: we need a grassroots campaign that transcends identities...
...to establish a sense of humanity above all else; amongst ourselves. Reforms needed are massive, fundamental & require active, ppl's participation. I hope we can find it in ourselves to collectively rise up to the challenge. It would be a very bold undertaking: but needed ASAP.
