Lush on Michigan ave in Chicago, Illinois is racist, classist and don’t take COVID-19 procedures seriously and let me tell you why. @lushcosmetics
I worked at this location for 3 years and 2 months and the racism and micro aggressions I have faced here have been extremely deteriorating to my well being and mental health I worked under under Brian Sikoryak and Cristina McCrystal at the Michigan Avenue location
The entire time from the reopen of Lush on Michigan ave the work environment was very toxic my Manager Brian made extremely despairing comments about how he felt about homeless people specifically black homeless people stating “they are all sexual predators and drug addicts”
He also racially profiled customers on a regular basis and was confronted by one of my co workers all of these events were documented and sent to our regional manager Beka Morgan only to fall on deaf ears (they all work together to conceal things within lush)
They both, on multiple occasions, intentionally targeted me during these extremely unfortunate times, “keeping track” of my attendance in a way that they did not do for themselves or other employees
He also told staff he was scared of me which is a micro aggression against black women when I have never shown aggressive behavior in the work place
Brian frequently would expose his body to us specifically his bottom when asked to cover up he would not take requests seriously and would make a joke of exposing himself
After testing positive for COVID Two members of the staff were infected and the shop did not close for cleaning, nor were staff notified or required to get tested after the exposure.
I am aware of this, having tested positive myself and having had to communicate to my former coworkers on my own that they had even been exposed
Because of the lack of safety and precaution taken to remain safe during the pandemic and the toxic and hostile work environment created by Mr. Sikoryak and Ms. McCrystal
, I am very concerned about the wellbeing of my former coworkers and any future staff members of Michigan Avenue’s Lush.
Lastly do not be fooled by lush and their claims of being a ethical business they do not care about black people or POC or the people they employ so many unheard voices of abuse under this company @lushcosmetics
