@KarenAttiah Brief #rosaparks thread... At a movie premiere in DC ("Amistad"). Washingtonians were hovering around the stars. I was a little bored. In the ladies room I saw a slight, very elegant black woman fussing with her hair. I said .... 1/
"you are way too elegant to be doing that yourself. Do you want some help?" She was thrilled and handed me the pins. We got to chatting. Not about much in particular. Do't remember the words. But I will never forget the way she carried herself, even in the ladies' room... 2/
We went our separate ways. Later, when I told the host I was gong home early, he said "wait, I know what will keep you here. Want to meet #RosaParks?" I was like "She's here tonight? Well maybe I already met her...." 3/
Sure enough, he takes me to the same slight, elegant black woman whose hair I had fixed, and introduces me to the one and only Rosa Parks. But Ms. Parks acted like I was the celebrity. She laughed a big laugh, hugged me and said "I know YOU!" And touched her hair...end/
