Just caught up to now we shall begin ethics.
It was a very enjoyable binge. At first I thought the teacher was a cold and calculated person who had a negative view on the world. But i was completely wrong. The teacher is someone who possesses a very broad view on the world which is to be expected from an ethics teacher.
I love how Takayangi genuinely cares for all his students. He tries to put himself in their shoes and uses his knowledge of how humans think to help them out. Sometimes he may seem like the perfect teacher.
For someone who is intelligent, well versed in his field and possesses a strong sense of justice it could be very easy to think that he is a perfect teacher who can do no wrong. But as an imperfect human being even he has moments of weakness.
This is a reason why he has become one of my favorite Mc’s in recent time. I feel like the author executed these moments of weakness perfectly. Even though he has many regrets and sometimes thinks on past mistakes he doesn’t let that stop him from helping others again and again.
Another thing I really enjoyed about the story is how every characters story has atleast some relatable elements to them. Whether we have a cynical world view or an optimistic one there is something for everyone in this manga and one of the reasons why I thoroughly enjoyed it.
One example that highlights my point above is the chapter focusing on a student who would post erotic pictures on social media even though she was a plain girl online she would get compliments and the feeling of being cared for. Many on this platform can relate to that escapism.
The author loves to quote various philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle and etc. These give every characters story depth this series has made me more interested in understanding philosophical teachings. For those who enjoy these I would definitely recommend.
Just wanted a place to gather all my thoughts on this series. If this caught your interest I would recommend you read it. The manga only has a few chapters out right now so it would be a quick binge.
