It is the latest in a series of huge storage projects, including a 4 hour, 700MW battery by Origin Energy, a $500 million pumped hydro project proposed by ATCO, and battery proposals by AGL Energy, Maoneng and TransGrid, not to mention the Snowy 2.0 pumped hydro mega project.
There goes the need for the governments gas fired power plant at Kurri Kurri. If it is built it will very swiftly become a stranded asset ie useless and worthless
