The first thing I want to discuss is skin care professionals or enthusiasts shaming consumers. It’s become a popular and funny thing on here. But. Can we collectively move on from shaming?
And then I also wanna discuss this tweet. Because....lol. We’re in a panoramic going on damn near a year now.

People are STARVING. Skin care, whether in the form of professional treatments or at home care, IS a luxury. All of it is a luxury. https://twitter.com/skynxjandiamour/status/1357138886649077763?s=21
There’s been a trend for like, the past year? Maybe even since 2019, of pros/enthusiasts *legitimately* shaming people for not doing their routine, not wearing SPF, not exfoliating etc.

Are we all living in the same world? Where mental illnesses that are debilitating exist?
And like, any other chronic illness. I admittedly have gone through *weeks* of not doing my routine. And I’m a licensed professional. At the end of the day, you will literally NOT d*e by not cleansing/hydrating/moisturizing your skin daily. Like, you’ll actually be ok. I promise.
I jokingly will say things that sound shameful, but I’m realizing that some of my peers are legitimately shaming others, so I’m personally putting an end to my jokes. It’s not funny. People are jobless. Homeless. Starving. Depressed. Washing your face isn’t critical. It’s not.
Also the whole sunscreen shaming thing. I emphasize the important of sunscreen not to shame you, but to help you understand that if you have certain skin health goals (like eliminating PIH), sunscreen *is* absolutely crucial in treating that.
But the world will continue to spin madly on even if you miss a day of sunscreen. Or a few days. Or weeks. Or even months. For whatever reason. You will be OKAY. Now, will you have some repairing to do on your skin? Yes. But you’ll still ultimately be fine.
And yes, obviously skin cancer is the primary reason for sunscreen usage, but if you’re Black, studies show that the skin cancer we most commonly get likely doesn’t even come from the sun, because the areas it affects are barely exposed to the sun (palms and soles of feet).
