Every single member of Congress is incredibly privileged and powerful. It is always appropriate to question, critique, doubt & demand of them. Any emotional framework designed to immunize them from that is fraudulent. @RoKhanna often says this best: https://twitter.com/RoKhanna/status/1348660294894014465
Elected politicians are not your friends or celebrity icons or symbols of vulnerability. They have huge staffs, access & power that few others have. Attaching yourselves to them so emotionally that you want them treated by all with deference and adoration is unhealthy.
When she was 16, @NancyMace was raped, and never revealed it until, as a State Rep, she argued for a rape exception to a bill. But some apparently feel it's OK to attack her publicly: they should. She's a member of Congress. She's not asking for a shield. https://www.postandcourier.com/politics/it-took-sc-rep-nancy-mace-25-years-to-share-she-was-raped-she-never/article_41d432e6-7656-11e9-b200-53a16f53b8a1.html
