I think there’s maybe a disconnect between what the public uses analytics for and what an NHL coach uses analytics for. Like I don’t think Maurice would be that interested in how Wheeler has played so far this season. He’s probably interested in how he can play his best next game
That’s a very different question than what a lot of public analysts are trying to answer. Or what readers are interested in reading about. Coaches probably don’t really care about “early season awards front runners” articles, for instance... or “who’s had the best/worst start?”
