White folks don't get racism.
You think you do, but you don't.
My first experience of racism in my memory was age 4-5.
I give the range because the first was observed (white folks in a convertible throwing eggs at my sister, calling her a monkey) and then in school when a kid called Michael said they don't want any black kids in my class.
(my class teacher was an amazing hippie goddess, though, and took no shit from any of them. I still love her)

But.
It's the insidious kind of racism, the institutional shit, the racist assumptions that is by far the most persistent and the most common I've experienced.
Most of it is not from skinheaded, Swastika-out type racists.
It's usually from folks who participate in embedded racist structures.

Even with most progressives, it's racism 101 shit. Simplistic. An 11-year-old black kid understands so much more.
The fact is we live in different worlds. This is the reason you do not understand black rage.
You do not understand that we do not want your sympathy (empathy's fine); we do not want your charity; we do not want you to come and build fucking churches in Black Africa.
We want equality.

And that means hate me because I'm an asshole, not because of the colour of my skin, the flatness of my nose or the thickness of my lips. (I confess it's difficult for you not to be jealous of my melanin-based good looks, but try.)

Or not. Just leave us be.
Fine, here's some stuff to read. Apparently my brain won't let me leave the topic without providing some 'further reading':
