let me get this straight: someone bought a $1M single family mansion, and then added two floors and turned it into 8 apartments that go for $1000/month?
that's like, quite literally, the opposite of gentrification lmao, the neighborhood is now more affordable https://twitter.com/BBolander/status/1355587497951191041

and yes, it's currently kinda ugly but
1) it's unfinished and will look far better once complete
2) who cares, once we build our way out of the housing shortage we can start complaining about the aesthetics of new housing

although, a good way to ensure that this building fits the neighborhood character is to allow all of the other buildings on the block to easily add two more floors so they can house more people
broke: gentrification is when housing prices rise and rich white people displace former residents
woke: gentrification is when housing prices go down so underemployed hipsters can afford to move in https://twitter.com/wuffgrrl/status/1357485966760509450?s=20
