It's actually Paul's letter to Timothy tht made me appreciate him more, as a believer, a discipler and an apostle.
Come to think of it,
This boy comes to you, probably whining and crying and whatever— about problems he is facing in the local church he is heading.
He is running a church at a place that is more or less a center of debauchery, the congregation is quite carnal, and he has a timidity
problem that would definitely be fuelled by this carnality... On top of all of these, them Hymaenus and Philetus mandem were doing their thing with false doctrine and a pollution of the mystery of the faith.
This thing can fit to give someone as emotionally invested in the collective spiritual growth of the church through the knowledge of what Christ has done as Paul a migraine for days.
Paul is quite emotional a person, so this sort of thing would push into a fit— somewhere between
deep sorrow and anger I'm sure.
Paul did not by any sleight of mind try to hide that these things were being felt by him, no.
It shows in the fluctuating tones you would find in the Epistles he wrote to Timmy/Daddy Tim/Bishop Daddy Tim.
We are moving from, boy stay and put them in remembrance of what is right and what is wrong— to ehn, I have handed them to the devil ool, they will receive sense by force— to okay, maybe God would mercifully restore them— to see guy, those women are busybodies, let them sit down
jare, and let the widows that are still young marry, there is a need for the church to shine as a beacon of truth to others.
In these same Epistles, there are instructions on what to do when an elder is wrong, there is the jacking up of Timothy— some aspire to maguire
As per age is nothing but a number— many things to unpack, Paul was in that space between taking care of his baby from afar while longing to physically be with him and his congregation (by virtue of instructions, in leading, living and righteousness),— and as I said earlier,
the token indignation. And while he was doing all of these things, he faced prison, betrayal and sure death in the mouth of a lion😭😭😭😭, ah! And as if this wasn't enough, he knew the time of his death was near...
See, that big guy wasn't masquerading or putting up a front, what he was facing would have shined through... It really is that intense... Something that shined out more than the things I have earlier stated about Paul was this— Paul had the core of His being rested on
the rock of ages. Broken in more ways than one, he still trusted that God was able to keep Him from falling apart.... Beneath all the things that were stated in Paul's letters to Timothy, it was very profound.
That's why those letters weren't about him. Paul was really drawing from a well that could never run dry, he was drawing from a Peace that isn't man-made.
There is no man-made peace that would make you as Paul, who is about to die, while writing an Epistle to your embattled son-in-Israel, remind him about stuff like your cloak and casually mention almost getting chomped on by a lion... Okay, maybe cold and prison could, but c'mon
He asked for books and parchment, and he didn't start another shalaye on the mandem that left him on his own till he had to fight lion joor.
I draw this already long thread to a close by saying this:
Jesus promised peace, he promised lightness and he promised victory over this World and all it's encumbrances. Jesus did not lie, He is with you, he is The Sabbath, the Rest, so rest on Him and be free.
