This month I’ll celebrate my half year anniversary with @toddle_edu (an EdTech SaaS platform for schools and teachers✨) and here are some of my takeaways (1/n)
If you want to become a product first company, you have to be an user first company. We have, in fact, written it into our core values. Be users first always. Everything else comes second. (2/n)
Hire for hustlers 🤛🏽 who have a deep passion for everything they do and are curious and coachable. Don’t just hire from brand name colleges. Hire for skills and “rigour”. Look for values-fit and culture-add ➕. Not everyone needs to behave the same way. (3/n)
Be flexible with workplace policies and give “ownership” to people. Empower them first and then entrust them with decisions. Don’t let random administrative musings stifle innovation ✨🔥 in your people. (Yes, we have looked at @netflix culture doc) (4/n)
Building an EdTech product is hard especially in the B2B space. The users are making a huge commitment to your product. They use the product every passing hour. Make your workflows as intuitive as possible and listen carefully to feedback. They are your OG product managers. (5/n)
In today’s world, every company is a content company. Create amazing content for your users that is free and useful. Shout out to @parita and team for making teacher professional development democratic and accessible to everyone around the 🌎.(6/n)
If you are building an EdTech company, hire “lots of” teachers. In fact, most of our non-Tech/design team members are ex-educators. Everyone in our sales team used to be a teacher. They understand our users the best and immediately establish a sense of trust. (7/n)
I was the 33rd employee of the team. We are now a team of 100+ (3X in 5 months!) We are hiring for many roles. Check out https://angel.co/company/toddleapp for open roles. 💪🏾 (8/n)
We are also hiring for our first “Chief of Staff” role. We are looking for someone who is passionate about growth (xto10x) and is willing to get go the “extra mile”. Feel free to DM me if you are keen. @TheProductfolks (8/8)
