Right now I'm on my way to the 5th protest for Xzavier Hill, who was killed by Virginia State Police almost a month ago. So far, the VSP has not released the tape of his death, which, according to his family who've seen the tape, will prove his innocence.
Anybody who plans on coming out today, please be careful. Mike Dickinson has already talked about calling tow trucks on demonstrators cars.
If you want more details throughout the day, you can follow this thread
The demonstration has not begun yet. It's a pretty decent turnout and people are creating posters, calling for justice for Xzavier.
A lot has happened in a short amount of time. Let me catch y'all up. We're at the Virginia State Police HQ, demanding the release of the tapes. Four officers are blocking the door.
Another officer has come out asking protesters to move behind the fence.
After a discussion with demonstrators, both Xzavier's mother and aunt were allowed to talk to VSP officials about the tape.
After talking to Xzavier's family, VSP said that there's nothing that they can do to release the footage. They've also asked protesters to go behind the gate
Right now, demonstrators are calling for not only for the tape, but for state police to wear body cameras. Currently, there is no bwc requirement.
Two more officers have come out. A VSP officer has told protesters and the family that the case is with the state’s commonwealth attorney
Protesters have taken the demonstration to the road, holding their signs to passing drives.
Drivers*
6 chesterfield cops have arrived. VSP has also increased their numbers around their building.
An officer said as long as protesters stay out the street, they won't be bothered
So far, many cars have been honking in support of the movement.
