The question often is do or how do gods exist. And this brings to mind the observation of anthropologists that, in terms of for example the notion of Kingship, the record shows this is not a projection of the human institution onto the divine realm but rather the other way round
Rather unexpectedly, the notion of kingship appears in records of the divine realm long before it was ever a possibility in human society. Kingship is long thought to be one of the popular ways gods live - it is only later than humans come to emulate the gods.
This is not the only example, democracy is another, and was for example, the chosen lifestyle of the gods of Atlantis.
This has implications for the ontological status of the gods, for the godhead. If one still insists on viewing this as the imaginal realm, ie one made by the imagination of the living, then it is one with its own rules and seemingly independent existence after all.
