So since 2017, you can't claim tax credits like CTC if you're undocumented. I think the issue is that it might be easier to roll that back with the IRS than if this gets shifted to SSA.
You get a Social Security number basically right when you're born. The paperwork is done at the hospital. I think you'd basically have 100 percent take up, whereas tax credits are more like 80 percent take up.
