1. Abuse occurs when someone wields whatever power they have against another in order to tear them down.
All abuse has a spiritual component, but “Spiritual Abuse” as a category is what happens when said power is baptized in spirituality; the dagger of abuse is 1st christened.

2. For example: Words have power & when someone uses their words to tear down & break another person; verbal abuse. The spiritual abuser will not only use words, they will use the power of sacred words (like scripture) to to tear down & break another.
3. For example: An abuser will tell you the people you care about are actually against you & support them (the abuser). The spiritual abuser will do the same but instead of it just being regular people; they will tell you your faith family & spiritual leaders are against you.
4. For example: An abuser will seek to rob you of hope by turning your own family & even parents against you via manipulation. Spiritual Abusers do same, but they will manipulate thru prayer to lead one to believe their Heavenly Father is against them & therefore no hope of aid.
5. Outlining some sections of my book this week (When The Church Becomes a Trigger: Identifying & Healing From Spiritual Abuse) and hoping to finish the first chapter. Just some thoughts I have on my mind as I write, hope they are helpful for some of you.
