Christopher Rodriguez of @DC_HSEMA tells @HomelandDems that the dangerous thing about current anti-government groups is that they are "becoming part of the cultural mainstream" bc. they are "fueled and fed by misinformation and lies"
Rodriguez also warns that foreign entities are "fanning the flames" with age-old tools, trying to undermine confidence in our democratic institutions.
. @NeuSummits calls for domestic terrorism criminal statutes. @POTUS admin is going to look at domestic terrorism seriously. But need to look at unintended consequences of targeting certain communities.
Rhetoric is a problem. There isn't a mainstream belief that all #Trump voters are domestic terrorists. But when people perceive that grievance and it is echoed in public discourse, it can become mainstream. Calls for an independent body to make evaluations, removed from politics.
Above it paraphrase of @NeuSummits
Support from @BrianMJenkins for bipartisan commission to look at #Jan6 says 9/11 commission still seen as the best evaluation of what happened and steps forward after the 2001 attack.
. @NeuSummits tells @RepDanBishop more violence from, more arrests of, more murders by right wing extremists Not to say we shouln't address all violence, but there is more data to support action against right wing violence.
