The new UN trafficking numbers are out and I already have a nosebleed

The UN has an appendix listing all of the cases and some of them are 10 years old! We're constantly told this is a massive global crisis and we can only confirm 489 cases since 2010?

Here's the numbers for the US. Compare this to the massive estimates (800,000 missing kids!) you see on social media.

Ahhhhh here it is. The UNODC report keeps talking about "detected" victims. For the US they're using an absurd definition that includes cases where no human trafficking was confirmed. This likely includes a ton of random sex workers caught up in vice raids.
Again, consider how massive we're told this problem is and then consider how little the government spends helping victims.
