Fellow Nigerians,
We complain about the utter failure of our political leaders - and rightly so - but fail to realize that this failure is more of a symptom of something bigger. And so we continue to perpetuate it.
The problem is our LEADERSHIP PARADIGM..

A thread
1/
Whether it's in the family, schools, housing estates, religious centers or offices, the philosophy that drives most leaders in Nigeria is SELF and not SERVICE. Before people became President, legislators or governors they were parents, supervisors, seniors or officers.
2/
And let's be honest: how many parents in Nigeria SERVE their children? Seniors oppresss and terrorize juniors. Bosses don't give a hoot about subordinates. And what's worse is that in all these dynamics, is that the kids, juniors and subordinates EXPECT to be treated poorly!
3/
Sociologists like Talcott Parsons long held that it's the cultural values a people hold that create their societal, economic and political realities - and I stand with that view. We can change parties or politicians all we want but until we fix our society and mindset...
4/
...and society from the ground up, we are going nowhere. The ills that plague us are not just in Aso Rock but first of all in US.

END.
