#MentalHealth check!
A thread.
I’ve heard many people using harmful language, educators, health care providers, parents, friends. Many words spoken in frustration during stressful moments. Education must continue so we retrain our brains to respond with empathy. #MentalIlness
I have used a few of these in moments of exhaustion as a single parent trying to keep it all together. For most, it is not intentional harm. We’re repeating toxic words we’ve heard growing up. Being aware of how harmful they can be & making an effort to be more mindful can help.
Graphics from Instagram, from Real Depression Project. Amazing resources on how to support loved ones with mental illness or mental health challenges. If you don’t have access to therapy, look for legit books, podcasts, documentaries. http://www.TheDepressionProject.Com  #MentalHealth
Many Ottawa area organizations also provide amazing support. If you’re on a wait list for therapy, don’t have coverage, don’t know where to start, I suggest reaching out to @CounsellingConx for a free session to help find resources that best fit you. #BellLetsTalk @Bell_LetsTalk
Other awesome Ottawa organizations offering mental health support @DistressCentreO @ysb_bsj @TheRoyalMHC @CHEO @HopewellOttawa @CHEOYouthNet @parentslifeline & of course @KidsHelpPhone is Canada wide 🇨🇦 @Bell_LetsTalk #BellLetsTalk #MentalHealth
