I lost count of the number of #pupillage applications I made. Pretty sure I applied to most criminal or mixed sets across the country. It took me three years to find a pupillage. The first year was hopeless. Second year had a few 1st rounders. I got my lucky break (cont) https://twitter.com/colinwitcher/status/1357323850678214657
third time around. I tried to learn from my mistakes and listen to feedback. I tried not to lose faith, it was hard with so much rejection. Many chambers didn’t even bother to reply to my application, some rejected with generic letters. I would not want to go through it (cont)
again. But, the whole process (and the constant rejection) prepared me well for a career at the Bar and I wouldn’t change it for all the money in the world, looking back. The best advice I could give is two fold:
1. Be yourself, there’s only one of you.
2. Persevere.
