On the controversy over 'celebrities' making similar statement supporting stand of MEA --- what do we learn? /1
Similarity of statement suggests signatories are dumb or conspiring by approving a preapproved draft. OR, were asked to say a particular thing. /2
Strange that many of them do not normally opine on public or political matters. So their sudden participation spurs curiosity. /3
One can only sympathise with them ..rather than being critical. They are mostly in entertainment industry. Sportspersons included./4
Sports bodies are often controlled by politicians. Plus heavy dependence of entertainment industry on power holders. Hence the eagerness to keep in good books-- a hypothesis. /5
Another related hyporhesis: in so many arenas in India there is heavy state regulation and bureaucratic interference that they lose domain autonomy and people working in those fields have to be cautious ../6
Just as this applies to artistes in the industry or sports persons, it applies to persons from other sectors such as finance or corporates or scientific research establishments and so on./7
Moral--- in absence of autonomy either to individuals or to various domains, silence is best policy and compliance is a good insurance. /8
Of course all the above tweets are inapplicable to those artistes or sportspersons who hold specific views in line with present regime. Their freedom should be respected---in any case their freedom is assured by the side they take :) /9
Finally those who drafted the tweet could have drafted stylistically different tweets at least. But alas, political bigotry often trumps imagination and creativity. After all, in matters of nationalism, uniformity of sentiments must express through uniformity of wording too.
