After the destruction of Kashi Vishwanath by Aurangzeb. Shivaji Maharaj declared war against with Mughals. Same time Tanhaji came to Rajgad for inviting Shivaji Maharaj to his son's wedding.

Kondhana fort was guarded by 5000 Mughal soldiers led by Uday Bhan.
