Dear Jurgen Klopp @LFC. I have been watching your team play and compared it to some value models. It is straightforward. Balls out wide to TAA (by Thiago for example, shown below) do have value. (1/n)
But when TAA receives them he should run to the goal line and cut back, not cross it over to the other side. Lets look at why... (2/n)
The early cross to Robertson is the correct action when counterattacking or the defence is disorganised. This is why you were so successful last year (here are some examples) but it is wasteful against organised defences. I think he might be stuck in that pattern of play. (3/n)
You can even get Salah and TAA to switch positions in these situations and ask Salah to dribble in and cut back. (Maybe Firmino is better? see data from 6 games last year with dribbles in the box where I am indicating). (4/n)
And then, going back to Thiago. Maybe, just maybe, you could ask him to pass to the left as well, instead of always right. Typically you have always been more successful as creating danger from that area to the left of the box instead of to the right. (5/n)
Jurgen...I trust you and you do have a rather good analytics department who can tell you all this. But sometimes even the most rational person like me is just a frustrated fan. (you can play about with the data yourself here: https://analytics.twelve.football/analytics?analysisId=44a719cac8d64f08a26e16f50c16a893&viewType=attack)
