We are living in one of the most difficult times ever for our live music industry. We have seen a reduction of more than 80% in revenue. Being one of the first industries to close and likely the last to reopen, the Cultural Recovery Fund was a lifeline for some businesses. (1/9)
Of all the industry’s current asks of our Government, keeping the VAT rate on tickets at 5% for the next 3 years will make the single biggest impact to the sectors recovery.
(2/9)
Just as we begin to sell tickets again, reports have appeared in the press that the Government is planning to raise VAT. Reversing this policy before we have been able to sell a meaningful volume of tickets would take millions from our industry when we need it the most. (3/9)
This week, @LiveMusic_UK is coordinating letters to @RishiSunak and your MP’s to ask for support.

We are asking for you to do three very simple steps:
(4/9)
1. Email your MP
We need to show MPs just how much support there is for this policy and recruit them as advocates.

Download this template ( https://bit.ly/3jljVb6 ), personalise it and email it to your MP. Instructions about how to find your MP are included on the letter. (5/9)
2. Spread the Message
Encourage your friends, colleagues, networks, mailing lists and audiences to do the same. If we are to be heard, it’s critical that everyone helps to spread the word. (6/9)
3. Post your support for #KeepVATat5

Post a graphic for the campaign, found here- https://bit.ly/39HyXo8  and use the #KeepVATat5

We need you to show the amount of support for #KeepVATat5 on social media. (7/9)
With the budget fast approaching, we must act now to convince the Chancellor to #KeepVATat5.

If we are successful, the entire ecosystem benefits: the crews, venues, managers, artists, agents, promoters and more. 💫 (8/9)
Thank you once again for your support. 🙏 (9/9)
