The lack of #maternityleave

👉Has us returning 2 weeks after birth
👉Leaves our constituents voiceless & unrepresented
👉running home to breastfeed
👉fighting to allow us to bring our babies to meetings !

This is why today the @dcc Wowen’s Committee called on @rodericogorman & @DarraghOBrienTD to put legal provisions in place so women councillors can avail of maternity leave.
The current system is unjust & discriminatory!

“ I was breastfeeding so I had to leave him at home , go to meetings & run home after important votes were casted” @CByrneGreen

At the time there was no baby allowed in meetings & no facilities to breastfeed 🤱

However the legendary @CByrneGreen led a committee including @janice_boylan fought for babies to be allowed into meetings & a partnering room!
They got a old men’s room with changing room , the staff made it lovely but it was still small & lacked windows!
Nappies need windows !
Huge thank you to all Councillor present & past who helped fight for the babies in meetings and the parenting room 🥰🥰

On your shoulders we stand !
